Mission and Program Overview

Mission

The purpose of this association, in common with the purposes of the national pta and california sate pta are to promote the welfare of children and youth in home, school, community, and place of worship; to raise the standards of home life; to secure adequate laws for the care and protection of children and youth; to bring into closer relation the home and the school, that parents and teachers may cooperate intelligently in the education of children and youth; to develop between educators and the general public such united efforts as will secure for all children and youth the highest advantages in physical, mental, social, and spiritual education.

DescriptionGrantsExpenses
Our top PTA Accomplishments, please see below:(1) Music Program partnership with Contra Costa College of Music providing weekly classroom music lessons to students. 1st - 2nd graders started with beginning piano and had Fall classroom presentations. The 3rd students received a personal recorder to use both at school and home and rehearsed in preparation of their Spring Recital. Students in grades 4-6 are encouraged to select a wind or brass instruments they are interested in to receive lesson. (2) Garden Program partnership with Grow Together Bay Area through WCCUSD for a Garden Educator in the Spring who organized classroom instruction by grade/teacher about photosynthesis, plant lifecycle, gardening, and nutrition. Fruit, vegetables, and herbs from the garden were distributed to school community. Additionally, we hosted two large garden clean-up days where students, parents, faculty, and community members planted new beds, organized irrigation, and collected trash and compost in school gardens.(3) Art/Paint Nights - offered students and faculty free virtual paint nights in the spring (March, April, & May). Parents/students and faculty signed up in advanced and were supplied with all necessary the art/paint materials, plus a zoom link to the painting session. Painting sessions were recorded in case any missed or would like to do the activity again. (4) Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration worked with teachers to organize a virtual HHM Facebook Premiere Event. K-3rd grade teachers selected a topic to present and record that would educate and highlight different regions/countries of Latin America/Hispanic speaking places in forms of music, dances, and important figures. 4th-6th grader teachers allowed students investigate and complete a recorded presentation on different countries, artists, food, etc. All video recordings were compiled to create a dynamic 2hour long presentation with for the school community to access on Facebook. Additionally, all students and faculty were given treat bags with snacks representing 5 different countries, games, and educational activities.(5) Black History Month Celebration and Juneteenth partnership with African American Parent Advisory Council (AAPAC) to honor and celebrate the beauty and history of Black Culture. For BHM helped to organize Literacy Monday in which members of the community would read aloud to students from black authors or literature to amplify the black culture, as well as a Special Assembly with Superintended Dr. Hurst. For the last Friday of the school year, we helped to organize a combined Field Day and Juneteenth Celebration with AAPAC, provided a BBQ, games, and music for students to come together to learn and understand the relevance of Juneteenth. (6) Read-a-Thon during 15 days in November, students were reading to assist the PTA to raise funds for our special events and programs (like those listed above). PTA helped organize special guest readers to come into classrooms and encourage students to read. Students who read the most per class and grade level were recognized, and as the classroom with the highest student participation.-$114,478
