SPECIAL INTEREST GROUPS (SIGS) AND GEOGRAPHIC INTEREST GROUPS (GIGS): THE CHAPTER OGANIZES COMMUNITIES OF PRACTICE THAT FOCUS ON SUBJECT AREA SPECIALIZATION IN THE LEARNING AND DEVELOPMENT CENTER OF PRACTICE. THE CHAPTER'S SIGS INCLUDE CONSULTING, TECHNOLOGY, PLUS 3D AND VIRTUAL LEARNING & TRAINING. THE SIGS FOCUS ON TOPICS THAT ADDRESS THE INTEREST OF THE SUB-SET OF MEMBERS. THE CHAPTER ALSO SPONSORS TWO GEOGRAPHIC INTEREST GROUPS (GIGS) TO OFFER MEMBERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES TO UNDERSERVED REGIONS OF THE BAY AREA: NORTH BAY AND SOUTH BAY/SILICON VALLEY. BOTH OF THESE REGIONS PREVIOUSLY HAD CHAPTERS OF THEIR OWN BUT THE CHAPTERS BECAME INSOLVENT. THE GIGS ALLOW THE FORMER MEMBERS OF THE NORTH BAY AND SILICON VALLEY CHAPTERS TO HAVE A PROFESSIONAL ORGANIZATION UNDER THE UMBRELLA OF THE GOLDEN GATE CHAPTER OF ASTD. IN 2015, THE SOUTH BAY GIG CONTINUED OFFERING REVENUE-PRODUCING PROGRAMS FOR THE SILICON VALLEY/SOUTH BAY REGION.2. ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP: THE CHAPTER'S MEMBERSHIP RANGED BETWEEN 200 - 225 MEMBERS, ALLOWING FOR MONTHLY FLUCTUATIONS IN RENEWALS AND NEW MEMBERSHIPS. MEMBERS RECEIVE SPECIAL PRICING FOR MOST OTHER PROGRAMS, SERVICES AND EVENTS, AND HAVE ACCESS TO THE FULL RANGE OF SERVICES AVAILABLE THROUGH THE CHAPTER AND THE ONLINE COMMUNITY/WEBSITE.3. NETWORKING EVENTS: THE CHAPTER SPONSORED FIVE NETWORKING EVENTS IN 2015 TO OFFER THE MEMBERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES TO MEET OTHER MEMBERS AND LEARN ABOUT COMMON PROFESSIONAL INTERESTS, CAREER OPPORTUNITIES, AND OTHER EVENTS TAKING PLACE THROUGHOUT THE CHAPTER AND OTHER PROFESSIONAL ORGANIZATIONS. |
