“AGATHA FARMS, INC.Statement Attachments to Form 990 YE 12/31/23Statement #1 re:Form 990 part III, Organization's MissionSince 1983 the Club has participated in U.S. and State of California waterand foul management programs. In 1983 the Club entered into a ten year water bank program with the U.S. Department of Agriculture \ SoilConservation Service. This program was developed for the local area frommeetings with the Grassland Water Conservation District, Calif. Dept. ofFish and Game, and the US Wildlife Service. In 1994, upon termination ofthe ten year contract with the US Dept of Agriculture, Agatha entered intoa new ten year plan with the State of California Department of Fish and Game. Requirements of the US program included water management schedules for a minimum of 50% of the clubs floodable fields and the cultivationand/or maximization of certain types of waterfowl plant production.Requirements of the Calif. program are even more inclusive. Since 1/1/2004,the California DF & G contract renews annually for one year. These contracts (US and Calif.) are made available by the appropriate Federaland Calif. agencies in order to restore, enhance and protect the natural andmanaged wetland habitat and to ensure the prevention of use or developmentwhich would conflict with the maintenance of these habitat goals. The articles of incorporation of Agatha contain purposes of formation andoperation which include the following:a)to conduct a hunting club for the recreation of the membersb)to cultivate and promote social intercourse among the membersc)to promote and cultivate the interest of its members in all outdoor sports and wildlifed)to promote conservation of fish and game of all kinds and to assist in maintaining and enforcing the laws of the State of Calif. and the United States of Americae)to establish and maintain game preserves and control the sameBy accepting the US Waterbank and Calif. Dept of Fish and Game monies andmanaging the club's property and water and cultural practices so that it isin compliance with the requirements of these contracts, the club:a)continued and enlarged its efforts to those stated corporate purposes listed above.b)helps the US Gov. and Calif. Dept. of Fish and Game in their missions relating to fish and wildlife conservation and grasslands protection. In conjunction with the California Department of Fish and Game Plan, Agatha is to receive(s)$32.50 per acre, respectively, for the approximately 485 acres included in the Plan. Agatha received these funds each year only after completing such watering practices and vegetation control practices as called for under the respective plan and after the appropriate agency had inspected Agatha's acreage to ensure that such watering and cultural practice had indeed beencarried out.The additional expenses that Agatha incurred as a result of theirparticipation in these two programs includes:a)additional water deliveries during the non duck season portion of the year.b)additional repairs and maintenance on the water delivery system that included areas to be irrigated that were outside the normal duck hunting flood areas.c)tractor\cultivation work on areas of the property relating to cultivation and/or maximization of waterfowl plant production.”
“Insurance proceeds received and corresponding liabilityon february 20, 2021 a fire destroyed the bunkhouse and clubhouse. The bunkhouse and clubhouse were not considered assets of agatha farms, inc as the funds to build the buildings were from various members and differ from the member ownership percentages. The funds received from the insurance company are held by agatha farms and will be used to reconstruct the bunkhouose and clubhouse. To the extent the funds are not adequate to complete the construction additional funds will come from members. The cash is included in the cash on the balance sheet and a liability is shown for the amounts related to the construction of the replacement bunkhouse and clubhouse.”
