“Due to the fact that jim has turned 81, and is fighting stage 4 thyroid cancer and stage 4 prostate cancer, facetime and zoom have become the major sources of communication with the present and past athletes and coaches in his deep relationship circle on most days. Also more and more members of the next generation of sports mentors continue to come to him for mentoring. In addition, other sports ministry leaders chose to draw on his six plus decades of experience in mentoring high-performance athletes. He has recently been recognized as being one of two people who are the pioneers of sports ministry on the college and professional levels. Jim has recently received back the publishing rights to his book, the power of one-on-one, originally published by baker books in 2014. It has now been widely accepted, adapted and published in several languages. The book reveals the proven principles jim has used over six decades to encourage individuals in a one-on-one setting on how to utilize the principles jesus used to change the world. From those many years of experience jim has learned that athletes will not reveal the deepest issues in their lives if a teammate or someone else is involved in the conversations. Therefore, he provides a safe, personal setting for the individuals who wish to meet with him, allowing them to feel free to ask any questions with which they might be struggling spiritually, with family issues, in their sport or in relationships with a significant other.”
