Financial Statement Notes

PART X, LINE 2:

The portfolio has been classified as a qualified trust under section 401(a) of the internal revenue code of 1986 (the code) and the investment manager believes it continues to comply with the requirements of section 501(a) of the code. Accordingly, the portfolio is exempt from income taxes, and no income tax provision is provided. Accounting standards codification topic 740, "income taxes" (asc 740), provides guidance for how uncertain tax positions should be recognized, measured, presented, and disclosed in the financial statements. Asc 740 requires the evaluation of tax positions taken in the course of preparing the portfolio's tax returns to determine whether tax positions are "more-likely-than-not" of being sustained by the applicable tax authority. Tax benefits of positions not deemed to meet the more-likely-than-not threshold would be recorded as a tax expense in the current year. The portfolio has received tax exempt status under section 501(c)(25) of the code. Accordingly, there is no provision for federal income taxes reflected in the accompanying consolidated financial statements. The portfolio has reviewed its tax-exempt status and determined no uncertain tax position exists.
