Mission and Program Overview

Mission

Community based nonprofit organization strives to recover salmon by engaging our community in restoration, education, and stewardship.

Nsea is a community based nonprofit organization dedicated to restoring sustainable wild salmon runs in whatcom county. In addition to program services of habitat restoration, education, and stewardship, the other key areas are: capacity: in 2016, nsea board and staff completed a capital campaign to establish a permanent base of operations for nsea to work from and to support regional salmon recovery efforts. The main goal driving the campaign was to create a permanent home to increase planning and the ability for nsea to maximize and sustain the impact of salmon recovery focused projects and programs. The 1.2 million dollar capital campaign was started in 2014 and allowed nsea to purchase 6.33 acres, remodel an existing farmhouse and outbuilding into functional office spaces, build a new shop to house tools and equipment, build a new community building which includes a classroom, library/resource room and storage and install a new nursery space and native plant garden for native trees
