Guest participants included the former President of the Maryland Institute College of Art a published media scholar and University of Virginia professor a DC Department of Public Works public art administrator activist artists community organizers and web technology specialists. The series produced a published Final Summary Report and culminated in a public forum on November 12 2025. In parallel Zakros initiated development of Open Source Studio 2.0 a next-generation online platform for media arts collaboration documentation and community building designed to serve artists educators and the broader public.”

The organizations current programs in telematic performance spatial audio research and civic arts dialogue build directly on its 35-year legacy of experimental arts practice. n fiscal year 2025 Zakros applied for grants from the Cafritz Foundation the DC Commission on the Arts & Humanities Capital Projects the National Endowment for the Arts Project Grant and the National Endowment for the Arts Research Grant. Of these applications the DC Commission on the Arts & Humanities awarded Zakros a General Operating Support grant of 15,000 received in fiscal year 2026. The organizations founders provided bridge contributions in 2025 to sustain operations during this period of institutional growth and grant development. Zakros also received significant in-kind contributed professional services in 2025 estimated at 25,750 from 31 internationally recognized artists engineers scholars and civic leaders who participated in the 3D Audio Dialogues research series the Discovery Series strategic planning sessions and the Bunker Fridays public programs. These contributions produced published research reports public programs and strategic documentation that directly advance the organizations exempt purposes.
