“Community Garden grants are awarded to local groups, organizations and institutions for the purpose of promoting gardening activities. Many grants go to schools and food banks for the purpose of growing food crops while others go to churches and senior homes to encourage their members to stay active through gardening.”

“Community Clinics - Conduct public education clinics at various locations throughout the county at nurseries, box stores, fairs and other venues. Limited activity during pandemic $1046 Demonstration Gardens - provide educational gardens to illustrate gardening techniques for growing food and ornamentals to the public. Over 20,000 lb of food donations to local food banks came from these gardens. $8106 Educational Outreach - Numerous gardening-related classes, presentations and activities have been developed and offered to the community through libraries, schools, garden clubs and other organizations. $746 Diagnostic Lab - Purchase equipment and supplies to support the ability of volunteers to diagnose disease and pest problem brought to the Extension Office by the public. $147 Extension Hort Support - With tight budgets at the County level, our program is being asked to help support the Horticultural Department staff expenses. $9114 Advanced Education - Experts in a variety of areas of horticulture are brought in to provide additional in-depth knowledge to members to assist them in diagnosing customer problems and providing appropriate solutions. $2774 Youth Education - Support 4H gardening project activities and greenhouse project at Canyon Park Middle School $335 Other Program Support - includes insurance, web site support, member recognition, equipment maintenance $9028”
