Beginning in 2021 the organization invested significant staff time and financial resources to infuse justice, equity, diversity, access and inclusion into all of its programs and services and has identified it as a priority in all that it does. Museums: the children's museum of tacoma and the children's museum at jblm honors children and youth and champions play. The museums each features five playscapes that encourage imaginative, child-directive play and is accessible through the pay as you will admission program, where visitors may choose to make a donation to the museum based on their ability to pay. Play to learn is a free, weekly preschool outreach program for adults and children where thematic curriculum facilitates individual play, group activities, songs, and group circle. The annual symposium on our youngest citizens invites community leaders, advocates and early learning enthusiasts to come together to consider "what do we hope for our children?," as well as examine how children can be put at the center of our communities through civic discourse, economic policy, and more. Expanded learning opportunities (elo) are enrichment programming, including visual and performing arts, dance, robotics, stem, mentorship, and more. These programs take place before, during, and after school. Elo programs provide a safe place for students to learn new skills, find their spark and voice, build positive relationships, and connect with their community and peers. Greentrike organizes these programs for tacoma public schools, including identifying and training providers, and is expanding into more school districts across pierce county.
