DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC THE ART GALLERIES AND MEMBER SHOWS HAVE BEEN MAINTAINED VIRTUALLY ADDING INTERNATIONAL EXHIBITIONS SHOWCASING ARTISTS IN THE PHILIPPINES AND TAIWAN, AND FREE ART DEMONSTRATIONS AND OTHER SERVICES HAVE BEEN PROVIDED ONLINE. A STUDENT OF THE MONTH AND THE SELECTION OF THE FIRST HAYWARD YOUTH POET LAUREATE ARE NEW PROGRAMS LAUNCHED IN 2021/22.

Mission

Hayward arts council (hac) embraces all forms of art in the hayward, california region. Serving both artists and patrons, hac maintains three galleries in hayward, and assists member artists to open their studios. Hac also provides scholorships to outstanding students in visual arts and 3-d sculpture at california state university east bay.

The hayward arts council hac embraces all forms of the arts in the hayward ca region serving both artists and patrons. Hac maintains five galleries in hayward and sponsors shows for members and non-members and emerging and professional artists. Also hac in collaboration with the hayward unified school district sponsors art education exhibitions for young artists k-12 highlights the works of middle school advanced art students in the "art in the middle exhibition and shows the works of at-risk youth once a year in the hayward public library gallery.hac collaborates with hayward unified school district in the annual "husd all district music festival"in addition hac provides scholarships and awards to outstanding students in visual and performing arts at high schools chabot community college and california state university east bay.online international exhibitions showcasing artists from all over the world are presented on the hac website. The Hayward Arts Council HAC manages five Art Galleries in Hayward: John OLague Galleria in City Hall John O'Lague Galleria #2 Library Galleries at Hayward Public Library Hayward Area Historical Society Art Gallery and Hayward Senior Center Gallery. In 2023 there were 28 in person exhibitions and 6 online exhibitions creating exhibit opportunities for 517 artists. In addition a Juried Exhibition attracted artists from all over the Bay Area. Six art workshops were conducted at the library benefiting 120 attendees. Three community wIde events were offered reaching 650 guests. Numbers benefiting: Difficult to estimate since galleries do not keep track of daily visitors. However the library reports that 1,000 visit the gallery every month. On average 114 visit our website daily.$0$34,671
HAC partners with the Hayward Unified School District HUSD in sponsoring the annual Hayward Band and Orchestra Festival. This Festival brings together all instrumental students from the Hayward middle and high schools to put on a concert featuring performances by massed Middle School bands MS orchestras High School Bands HS orchestras and MS and HS Choirs. The 2023 Festival took place on April 21 2023 at the Chabot College Performing Arts Center. Almost 600 HUSD students participated in the concert. The concert was well-attended primarily by parents grandparents and siblings of the performers. Persons benefiting: Students benefited by participating in the Festival and the audience of approximately 800 people benefited by attending the Festival concert and by appreciating the work of their students.$5,442$5,442
For six years HAC has partnered with the Hayward Unified School District HUSD in its VAPA Visual and Performing Arts program. This program supports art and music activities K-12 in the public schools. In 2023 HAC sponsored the Art IS Education Exhibit showcasing the best works of 110 HUSD art students and sponsored five additional Art Education exhibitions highlighting the advanced art class from Monroe Catholic Private School three "Art in the Middle" exhibitions showcasing middle school students and one exhibition showcasing at-risk students the latter in collaboration with Seneca Family of Agencies. HAC coordinated the twelve public appearances for the Hayward Youth Poet Laureate. In 2023 a student-led "Teen Poetry Monthly Workshop" was launched in the Teen Room of the Hayward Public Library supporting 22 students in their creative writing efforts. In addition HAC provided awards to outstanding art students at four high schools Chabot Community College and California State University East Bay. HAC also awarded two scholarships in the performing arts Dance and Theatre Arts.HAC recognized student's art achievement every month in its Student of the Month Program highlighting the students' achievements on our website social media and newsletter. IRS990EZ/ProgramSrvcAccomplishmentGrp/DescriptionProgramSrvcAccomTxt0The Hayward Arts Council HAC manages five Art Galleries in Hayward: John OLague Galleria in City Hall John O'Lague Galleria #2 Library Galleries at Hayward Public Library Hayward Area Historical Society Art Gallery and Hayward Senior Center Gallery. In 2023 there were 28 in person exhibitions and 6 online exhibitions creating exhibit opportunities for 517 artists. In addition a Juried Exhibition attracted artists from all over the Bay Area. Six art workshops were conducted at the library benefiting 120 attendees. Three community wIde events were offered reaching 650 guests. Numbers benefiting: Difficult to estimate since galleries do not keep track of daily visitors. However the library reports that 1,000 visit the gallery every month. On average 114 visit our website daily.
IRS990EZ/ProgramSrvcAccomplishmentGrp/DescriptionProgramSrvcAccomTxt1HAC partners with the Hayward Unified School District HUSD in sponsoring the annual Hayward Band and Orchestra Festival. This Festival brings together all instrumental students from the Hayward middle and high schools to put on a concert featuring performances by massed Middle School bands MS orchestras High School Bands HS orchestras and MS and HS Choirs. The 2023 Festival took place on April 21 2023 at the Chabot College Performing Arts Center. Almost 600 HUSD students participated in the concert. The concert was well-attended primarily by parents grandparents and siblings of the performers. Persons benefiting: Students benefited by participating in the Festival and the audience of approximately 800 people benefited by attending the Festival concert and by appreciating the work of their students.

HAC coordinated the twelve public appearances for the Hayward Youth Poet Laureate. In 2023 a student-led "Teen Poetry Monthly Workshop" was launched in the Teen Room of the Hayward Public Library supporting 22 students in their creative writing efforts. In addition HAC provided awards to outstanding art students at four high schools Chabot Community College and California State University East Bay. HAC also awarded two scholarships in the performing arts Dance and Theatre Arts.HAC recognized student's art achievement every month in its Student of the Month Program highlighting the students' achievements on our website social media and newsletter.
