“Eden hospital foundation (ehf) dba eden medical center foundation (emcf) provides philanthropic support to eden medical center (emc). Through the generosity of our patients, corporations, foundations and members of the community, eden medical center and the foundation enhance the well-being of each person through excellence, compassion and respect. On january 1, 2014, ehf merged into alta bates summit foundation. The 2013 return will be the final return for ehf. In 2013, ehf granted emc over $242,000 in funding for programmatic and capital needs, including: mammography/oncology * tomosynthesis software, $181,648. The software allows for 3d imaging of tumors and masses in the breast that can be detected with a higher degree of accuracy and it's a less painful method of imaging and provides clearer scans in dense breast tissue. Expected to become the new gold standard in mammography. Neuroscience/radiology * transcranial doppler system, $42,000. Device that stabilizes patients' heads during procedures to determine intracranial disorders. It is sometimes difficult to keep the head still with restless patients or patients in an emergency situation. The device improves accuracy, reduces length of time for exam, and decreases patient stress. Trauma/ed * every 15 minutes, $11,312. The highly acclaimed, emmy award-winning every 15 minutes program offers real-life experience without the real-life risks. This emotionally-charged program is an event designed to dramatically instill teenagers with the potentially dangerous consequences of drinking alcohol and texting while driving. This powerful program challenges students to think about personal safety, the responsibility of making mature decisions and the effects the wrong decisions could have on their friends and families. * glidescope, $5,742. This piece of equipment is designed to provide a consistently clear, real-time views (both video and snapshot directly to a usb) of the airway and tube placement, enabling quick intubation of patients of all ages and sizes. Infection control * 2013 community flu clinic, $1,858. The eden hospital foundation approved funding for the 2013 flu clinic. Clinics are usually held at the hospital but there's been more emphasis placed in reaching out to the community and going to facilities in their neighborhoods instead of them having to find their way to the hospital. The clinics were held at eden united church of christ in hayward on november 13 and at the salvation army in hayward on thanksgiving.
