The Chair of the Human Resource Committee surveys local nonprofits of like size and mission to determine the market range for the compensation of the Executive Director's position. Consideration is given to number of clients served, employees supervised, volunteers recruited, and annual budget. The information is then submitted to the board along with a recommendation from the Compensation Committee. The Board must approve the proposed compensation amount.

Financial Statement Notes

Part X : FIN48 Footnote

The Food Bank is an exempt corporation under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and 23701(d) of the Revenue and Taxation Code and, therefore, has made no provision for Federal or California income taxes. The Food Bank adopted the recognition requirements for uncertain income tax positions as required by generally accepted accounting principles, with no cumulative effect adjustment required. Income tax benefits are recognized for income tax positions taken or expected to be taken in a tax return, only when it is determined that the income tax position will more-likely-than-not be sustained upon examination by taxing authorities. The Food Bank has analyzed tax positions taken for filing with the Internal Revenue Service and all state jurisdictions where it operates. The Food Bank believes that income tax filing positions will be sustained upon examination and does not anticipate any adjustments that would result in a material adverse effect on the Food Banks financial condition, results of operations or cash flows. Accordingly, the Food Bank has not recorded any reserves, or related accruals for interest and penalties for uncertain income tax positions at June 30, 2024. The Food Bank is subject to routine audits by taxing jurisdictions; however, there are currently no audits for any tax periods in progress.

IRS990ScheduleD/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt0The Food Bank is an exempt corporation under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and 23701(d) of the Revenue and Taxation Code and, therefore, has made no provision for Federal or California income taxes. The Food Bank adopted the recognition requirements for uncertain income tax positions as required by generally accepted accounting principles, with no cumulative effect adjustment required. Income tax benefits are recognized for income tax positions taken or expected to be taken in a tax return, only when it is determined that the income tax position will more-likely-than-not be sustained upon examination by taxing authorities. The Food Bank has analyzed tax positions taken for filing with the Internal Revenue Service and all state jurisdictions where it operates. The Food Bank believes that income tax filing positions will be sustained upon examination and does not anticipate any adjustments that would result in a material adverse effect on the Food Banks financial condition, results of operations or cash flows. Accordingly, the Food Bank has not recorded any reserves, or related accruals for interest and penalties for uncertain income tax positions at June 30, 2024. The Food Bank is subject to routine audits by taxing jurisdictions; however, there are currently no audits for any tax periods in progress.
