Major Activities

Activity 2

The organization hosted or facilitated more than 50 programs and events to inform and educate people about different cultures, international concerns and problems, and to bring people together. For example, held current event panels on Egypt, Syria and Israel. Offered more than 20 language classes a week taught by volunteers including English, Farsi, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin, Sanskrit, Spanish and Turkish. Have program designed to welcome international women, their children and to introduce them to local women, talk about life, love, parenting and how to fit into the United States and Davis. Have art exhibits that change monthly, and offer free international movies twice a month. Also have storytelling events for very young children, offer cooking classes to interest people in different cuisines and have pot lucks to raise money for victims of natural disasters worldwide.

Activity 3

The organization made its facilities available to groups and organizations for social, religious, cultural, and business events and meetings that fits its mission. Many International student groups had their various club activities including group meetings, dances, socials, and fundraisers. UC Davis has used it for International Student Tax Workshops, Education Abroad Seminars, English Language Programs, Services for International Students, International Dances, Parking and for The Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program which provides a year of professional enrichment in the US for experienced professionals from designated countries throughout the world. Local residents and businesses have held events, meetings, celebrations and festivals (Weddings, Music, Thanksgiving, New years, Cultural, Religous and on).
