IRS990/Desc0DataCenters central program, Research for Community Power Program (RCPP) strengthens the power of grassroots organizing by strategically integrating community-driven research as a critical component of social justice campaigns. RCPP is values-driven, elevates community expertise, and supports self determination through the strategic use of research and documentation tools to advance the political objectives of organizations led by and working in marginalized communities. Building research capacity and integrating community driven research into the core of community organizing helps build campaigns that win and strategies with a long-term vision for change. DataCenter supports community organizers to develop the skills and experience necessary to integrate community-led research into their future organizing work.In 2015 DataCenter partnered with a group of organizations in Oregon to collect and analyze information about health care access in their state. The report titled Mind the Gap: Why Full coverage Makes Sense for Oregon includes information on who is currently excluded from health insurance coverage in the state and recommendation for how to remedy the barriers to coverage. The report is the result of our multi-year partnership with the We Are BRAVE co-hort at Western States Center.DataCenter partnered with Western States Center and Transgender Law Center to assess the potential for building a national network of organizations, community groups and individuals working at the intersection of reproductive justice, transgender justice and immigrant justice. Interviews with 40 people revealed that communities are facing common challenges, attacks on rights are crossing issues and that there is high interest in building such a network.
