Breast Cancer Program The Breast Cancer Program is San Franciscos most organized and sustained effort to serve underserved populations of women with breast cancer from diverse ethnic and cultural communities. The program provides a one-of-a-kind direct service approach which can be delivered in non-clinical settings, including a clients home, hospital room or our office. Integral to the success of the program is the ability to provide all interaction with our clients directly in English, Spanish, Cantonese and Mandarin. The quality of staff-client relationships is further enhanced because all staff is trained in the Shanti Model of Peer Support, a non-directive, humanistic and client-centered mode of communication.

Activity 3

The L.I.F.E. Program The L.I.F.E. program L.I.F.E. being an acronym for Learning Immune Function Enhancement promotes the health of persons living with HIV/AIDS and other life threatening diseases through compassionate and culturally competent health education and counseling programs, training of health professionals, and research on the role of psychological factors in health. The L.I.F.E. program is offered across the country, at more than 15 sites, and provides implementation support, curriculum development, technical assistance, and an easily accessible informational website to community-based agencies and government providers who wish to implement the L.I.F.E. workshop.
