To guard against any conflicts of interest, bhi requests all board members and management team members immediately report any potential identified conflict of interest to the executive director who will address the conflict and report it to the board.

Executive compensation is discussed and decisions are made by the board in executive session. The board uses the northern california nonprofit compensation and benefit survey and the 990's of comparable organizations to inform them and provide data for compensation comparability.

SIL OFFERS AN ARRAY OF SERVICES TO SUPPORT CLIENTS IN MAINTAINING BASIC EVERYDAY NEEDS, INCLUDING HOUSING, AND IN FINDING MEANINGFUL ROLES AND ACTIVITIES IN THE COMMUNITY. PARTICIPANTS HAVE ACCESS TO BEHAVIORAL REHABILITATION AS WELL AS PSYCHIATRIC MEDICATION SUPPORT AND ASSESSMENT. THE SERVICE TEAM ASSISTS CLIENTS IN BUILDING SKILLS THAT ALLOW THEM TO ATTAIN AN OPTIMAL LEVEL OF AUTONOMY WHILE LIVING IN THE COMMUNITY OF THEIR CHOOSING. THE FOCUS IS ON ENABLING RESIDENTS TO BUILD THE SKILLS NECESSARY TO INCREASE THEIR ABILITY TO FUNCTION IN THE LIVING, LEARNING, WORKING, AND SOCIAL ENVIRONMENT OF THEIR CHOICE.THE CALWORKS (CALIFORNIA WORK OPPORTUNITY AND RESPONSIBILITY TO KIDS) PHOENIX SKILLS PROGRAM PROVIDES SERVICES FOR CLIENTS AND THEIR FAMILIES EXPERIENCING MENTAL HEALTH CHALLENGES THAT CREATE BARRIERS TO EMPLOYMENT AND EDUCATION. THE PHOENIX SKILLS PROGRAM UTILIZES A MULTIDISCIPLINARY APPROACH TO IMPROVE THE COPING ABILITIES, CONCENTRATION, MOTIVATION, AND SELF-ESTEEM OF CLIENTS. SERVICES INCLUDE MENTAL HEALTH AND SUBSTANCE USE COUNSELING; HELP WITH IDENTIFYING STRENGTHS AND WORK INTERESTS; GUIDANCE THROUGH THE PROCESS THAT LEADS TO A JOB INTERVIEW; INFORMATION AND ACCESS TO COMMUNITY RESOURCES TO SUPPORT AND MAINTAIN MENTAL HEALTH; AND SUPPORT FOR GAINING OR FURTHERING EDUCATION. THE CALWORKS TEAM SUPPORTS CLIENTS AND THEIR FAMILIES TO ATTAIN SELF-SUFFICIENCY AND THEIR FULLEST POTENTIAL.THE BRIDGES TO RECOVERY IN-HOME OUTREACH TEAM (IHOT) PROGRAM PROVIDES SHORT-TERM OUTREACH AND ENGAGEMENT TO INDIVIDUALS WITH SERIOUS, UNTREATED MENTAL ILLNESS IN AN EFFORT TO LINK THEM TO BEHAVIORAL HEALTHCARE AND OTHER COMMUNITY SERVICES TAILORED TO THEIR COMPLEX NEEDS. THE IHOT TEAM USES A TRAUMA INFORMED, SENSITIVE, AND CULTURALLY RESPONSIVE APPROACH THAT CONSIDERS THE CLIENT AND THE FAMILY'S PACE OF CHANGE. FAMILY MEMBERS ARE PROMINENTLY INCLUDED IN ENGAGEMENT AND PLANNING, AND ARE ENCOURAGED TO PARTICIPATE IN A VARIETY OF SUPPORTS TO ASSIST THEM AND THEIR FAMILY MEMBERS, WHILE ADDRESSING THEIR OWN NEEDS AND STRESSORS.
