“The federation has three classes of membership: agricultural members - one who resides or farms in san joaquin county and who received during the five-year period before the membership year, or reasonably expects to receive, income from the farming industry. Only a person in this class of membership is a "member" as defined in 5056 of the california corporations code, and the right to vote and other rights afforded members under the california nonprofit mutual benefit corporation law are limited to this class of membership. Associate members - one who is not an agricultural or collegiate member. This class of membership does not have a right to vote. Collegiate members - this class of member receives no benefits other than a subscription to the farm bureau news. All members in this class must be approved by a member san joaquin farm bureau board of directors. The organization has a membership of 1,243 of which 1,065 are voting members.”

“The members of the individual farm centers submit nominations for the governing members. The nominations are approved and the governing body is elected at the annual membership meeting.”

“The membership approves any changes to the by-laws at the annual membership meeting.”

“The organization deems written policies and procedures unnecessary for the individual farm centers as all expenditures must be approved by the board of directors.”

“The finance committee is furnished with a copy of the form 990 prior to the finance committee meeting. The form 990 is discussed at the finance committee meeting where individual questions and/or concerns are addressed. Any issues or changes are communicated to the preparer for resolution and the executive director reviews the final copy of the 990 before filing.”

“The conflict of interest policy is reviewed annually and the review is documented by the signature of each director.”

“The organization keeps a copy of these documents on file at the corporate office which are made available to the public upon request.”

“The organization has not changed either its oversight process or selection process during the tax year.”
