“The organization is a membership organization. Members are made up of employees represented under a collective bargaining agreement. Membership is made up of regular members who are full time employees within the bargaining unit, pay full dues, and have voting rights. Full paying 'a- and 'b' members are eligible to vote as long as they are current on paying their dues. Class 'b' members are not eligible to vote on local 10 issues, but are eligible to vote on coastwide contract issues. Retired members are entitled to attend membership meetings with voice and no vote.”

“Elections are held once every year for members to elect officers of the local.”

“All 'a' members have the right to vote on issues brought before the membership by the board of trustees and/or exectutive board. Both class 'a- and 'b' members vote to ratify/not ratify the coast longshore contract. The membership must vote on amendments to the local's by laws, charitable contributions over 200, the installation and/or removal of officers and the governing body, and approval of the coast longshore contract.”

“The organization's secretary-treasurer and president review the form 990 prior to filing. Any board of trustee member has the right to review all tax filings and audit reports, but copies of the tax filings are not distributed for review.”

“The executive board members and trustees, who are not full time employees of the local, do not receive compensation (salary/wages)for serving in their capacity as an executive board members or trustee. These positions are not compensated. The compensation reported in part vii includes compensation only for lost time compensation incurred while serving the local for other committee work, such as the local's drill team or as a delegate attending conferences or conventions.”

“Financial information and governing documentation are made publicly available on the form lm-2, electronically filed with the department of labor, on the office of labor-management standards website. Any other request for financial information is made available upon request.”

“The local's primary function includes representing members in matters related to employee-employer relations, including, but not limited to wages, hours and other terms and conditions of employment and to protect and preserve the union as an institution in the performance of its legal and contractual obligations.”

“To promote and foster goodwill and public support for the welfare and interest of this union and its members by actions including, but not limited to: organizing the unorganized, sponsoring activities that conserve the interests of this union and serve its membership, and providing donations to support labor friendly organizations and other organizations in our local community.”
