“The membership categories of gsa are composed of the following: regular - any person who has done research in, or relating to, genetics. Emeritus - any person who has been a regular member of the society for at least the last 5 consecutive years, who has retired from employment, and who has made a request to the gsa administrative office to be classified as such. Several other membership categories currently exist: industry, postdoc, graduate student, undergraduate student, k-12/community college educator/msi faculty, and developing country.”

“The eligible members (including regular members and emeritus members) elect the officers and directors of the organization.”

“Membership approval is required for changes to the bylaws. Once the board approves the changes, they must also be approved by a majority of members who vote.”

“990 draft is reviewed and approved by ed and controller prior to filing. Once filed the return is available for review by all members of the board.”

“The conflict of interest policy covers directors, officers, key employees, and employees in a position to exercise substantial control over gsa affairs. Covered employees must read the coi statement and disclose any potential conflicts. Subsequently, the president shall determine if a conflict exists or can reasonably be construed to exist and how the conflict should be resolved.”

“A compensation committees determines the hiring and compensation of the gsa executive director. The committee reviews regional compensation surveys to determine a competitive price range for the position. Compensation and performance are reviewed annually by the executive committee.”
