Mission

Shared City is an actionable initiative working to build a high-impact collaborative charitable ecosystem in Charleston where nonprofits donors and volunteers work together using shared principles of effective relational charity. We do this through nonprofit capacity building effective charity training and catalyzing connections.

1. Nonprofit Capacity Building: Learning Lab. In 2024 Shared City launched the Learning Lab an accessible training program designed to equip nonprofit leaders with the essential skills to create sustainable high-impact organizations. This year 57 local leaders received training gaining practical tools to strengthen their missions and build long-term capacity. With a focus on effective governance strategic planning and operational excellence the Learning Lab is directly shaping the future of Charlestons nonprofit sector ensuring organizations are equipped to serve their communities effectively. All participants received a full or partial scholarship to attend that was provided by a community partner or generous donor.$0$52,006
2. Effective Charity Training: Volunteer & Donor Education. Shared City is committed to transforming how volunteers and donors engage in charitable efforts. Through the Community Impact Workshop and coaching programs we trained 17 volunteers and donors equipping them with the knowledge to contribute meaningfully to long-term community impact. By addressing common pitfalls in ineffective charity and emphasizing sustainable giving strategies we ensure that resources are used efficiently and ethically to break cycles of poverty.$0$14,859
