Taste for Equity

“This is our first filing year so our bylaws are new. ARTICLE I: PURPOSE Section 1. Organizational Purpose. This corporation shall be organized and operated exclusively for charitable, scientific, literary, religious, and educational purposes. Subject to the limitations stated in the Articles of Incorporation, the purposes of this corporation shall be to engage in any lawful activities, none of which are for profit, for which corporations may be organized under Oregon, Section 65 of the Oregon Corporations Code (or its corresponding future provisions) and Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code (or its corresponding future provisions). The primary purpose of TASTE for Equity. ("TASTE") is to be a catalyst to experience and inspire action for a more equitable community. We bring leaders, creators, and changemakers together across cultural divides to support, promote and inspire action toward significant equity advances in the region. From support programs, sponsorships, and mentorships to the annual gala honoring Oregon's BIPOC and LGBTQIA2S+ food and wine industry - community is at the heart of everything we do. Section 2. Guiding Principles. In order to fulfill our purpose and mission, we have organizationally chosen to adhere to the following guiding principles: We are focused on spotlighting and patronizing vendors, partners and beneficiaries owned/led by our priority population: BIPOC and LGBTQ+ individuals We seek to amplify the work of our community's diversity, inclusion, equity and justice practitioners and champions-and connect and inspire them further-rather than duplicate or compete with their businesses and/or efforts. Our leadership and committees should reflect the racial and queer communities we are serving with more than 50% of board and committee members from those communities.”
