That bookkeeper was removed from the organization as well as her access to bank accounts immediately after these unauthorized payments were made. The new bookkeeper and treasurer have initiated an internal process where twice monthly an accounts payable run and supporting documentation is presented to the treasure for approval. Additionally, the bookkeeper can initiate but not approve an bank transfers. The bookkeeper can initiate but the treasure must approve. A total of 744,755.64 such invoices were paid. NCIIF was able to recover 368,039.22 through bank recovery and reduction of invoices from ongoing vendors. There was a net loss of assets of 376,716.42.”

NCIIF undertook a voter education program that included mail, digital advertising, text messaging, and phone calls to inform voters of their eligibility to vote in their chosen primary elections and the voting process. Communications also included informing voters of the new Voter ID requirement in North Carolina and how all voters had to present an ID to vote. The NCIIF website provided voter information links to the North Carolina State Board of Elections so voters could request an absentee ballot, find an early voting site close to them, or how to request an absentee ballot. NCIIF communications included no partisan references to any Party or candidate. |
