| IRS990/Desc | 0 | Currently, we employ 3 full-time veterinarians, 9 on-call veterinarians (for when we need additional support) and a team of 8 Registered Vet Technicians, 13 Vet Assistants, 3 Customer Service Representatives, 7 support team members (4 canine foster/rescue, 3 kitten/foster rescue staff). These veterinary professionals work 365 days a year to ensure the animals in the care of the city have their medical needs met. Animals are brought into the City Shelter by community members and animal control or police officers. From January - December 2024, our organization has treated and sterilized almost all of the 7,586 animals taken into the shelter with over 80% of those pets finding a home, rescue, or foster. Our organization employs a team that provides a full spectrum of services including vaccines, parasite treatments, infectious disease care, and trauma treatment. Our team is tasked with surgical services including basic spay and neuter as well as a wide variety of trauma treatment. Every animal that is taken into the city shelter is assessed for the need for medical care. If the animal shows any abnormalities or concerns, they are taken to our on-site care team for evaluation. The animals are seen by our on-site veterinarians and a plan to meet that animals specific medical needs is created and implemented. The animals are cared for by our team directly until either the animal no longer needs direct medical intervention or they have found placement outside of the shelter. All animals that are healthy and unaltered are scheduled to be spayed or neutered by our team. We provide a dedicated veterinary surgeon and associated support staff four days a week. We were able to expand our veterinarian and support staff for medical assessments from five to six days a week to seven days a week. This team was able to complete an impressive 3,833 surgeries throughout 2024. The animals have medical care available 365 days a year. We also expanded our support team from four to six full time positions that are solely focused on finding animals in the shelters care an appropriate pathway out of the shelter. This expansion included the addition of two dedicated kitten foster/rescue staff members. Both our canine foster/rescue and kitten foster/rescue teams supports our medical team by coordinating medical care for patients whose care requires specialists or prolonged treatment. Our support services team locates and coordinates transportation of these animals to foster or permanent homes, rescue organizations, and other facilities so that they can get the loving care they need. Throughout 2024, our support services team and our city partner have helped find homes for 2,028 animals, returned 603 animals to their owners, and found rescues for another 2,249 animals. We also expanded our contract with the City of Stockton to add a new position for an Operations Manager. This role has been integral to our organizations growth, helping to manage shelter staff including scheduling, training, and performance evaluations. They have also been overseeing and improving upon the daily operations of the shelter including working with our medical and support teams to ensure they have the necessary supports in place to do their jobs as efficiently as possible. This role has also helped promote the shelter and its programs within the community through outreach with local businesses (such as creating Foster Safe Spaces, and our Doggie Day Out program), organizing educational events (such as how to bottle feed a kitten) and other outreach programs to help raise awareness about the work the shelter is doing within the community. Theyve also been instrumental to developing additional policies and procedures to ensure operational efficiency.We also expanded our services to include Customer Service Representatives (CSRs) This role handles all our appointment phone calls, provides surgical and pre- and post-op instructions.
