“The constitution was updated, as it is every year, by vote of the full membership.”

“The organization had 598 members at the end of 2024.”

“All members of the governing body are elected by the membership, either at large (such as the Titled Officer positions) or by smaller representative pool (for example each workplace that has a contract with ILWU Local 5, those members are entitled to elect a direct representative to the governing body - the Executive Board)”

“The full membership votes on the following: Titled Officer positions, yearly budget, constitutional amendments. A subset of the membership votes on the following (as they are workplace specific): Strike Authorization, Contract Ratification, Bargaining Team/Unit Rep/Unit Trustee elections Non members or outside agents to not have any voting strength in the Union.”

“The Secretary Treasurer is responsible for completing the form. The completed form is sent to the Executive Board and the Trustees for review. The form also will be held in the Trustee records. If either body identifies an issue in the form then they will notify the Executive Board who in turn will review any issues and submit amendments as needed.”
