Mission and Program Overview

Mission

We use food to change lives and build healthy communities. Our foodservice job-training programs help people with barriers to employment achieve self-sufficiency by marrying their talents to the needs of the community. Our food production business provides a sustainable model that supports our food training and educational programs.

The mission of the organization is to provide training and employment to refugees and others in need. Our experiential programs transform lives by teaching others to fish and by bringing access to fresh, conveniently prepared, local food products.

Additional Explanations

FORM 990, PART XII, LINE 2C:

The audit oversight and selection process has not changed from the prior year.

Financial Statement Notes

PART X, LINE 2:

Uncertain tax positions the accounting standard on accounting for uncertainty in income taxes addresses the determination of whether tax benefits claimed or expected to be claimed on a tax return should be recorded in the financial statements. Under that guidance, the organization may recognize the tax benefit from an uncertain tax position only if it is more likely than not that the tax position will be sustained on examination by taxing authorities based on the technical merits of the position. The tax benefits recognized in the financial statements from such a position are measured based on the largest benefit that has a greater than 50 percent likelihood of being realized upon ultimate settlement. There were no unrecognized tax benefits identified or recorded as liabilities for 2015 or 2014. The organization files form 990 in the u.s. Federal jurisdiction. The organization is generally no longer subject to examination by the internal revenue service for years before 2012.

PART XI, LINE 2D - OTHER ADJUSTMENTS:

PART XII, LINE 2D - OTHER ADJUSTMENTS:
