“Client Note 1 - STATEMENT #3:STATEMENT OF PROGRAM SERVICE ACCOMPLISHMENTS:The Stream Restoration Alliance of the Middle Rogue (SRA) was formerly known as the Middle Rogue Watershed Council. The SRA is a natural resources and conservation based 501c3 not-for-profit organization working with local citizens to promote and improve watershed health factors, including but not limited to water quality and wildlife habitat. The SRA focuses activities in three areas: 1) watershed restoration projects 2) education and outreach activities, and 3) partnership roles and support. For focus area 1, the SRA has either completed or currently has on-going watershed health restoration projects for riparian restoration and tree planting,invasive species control for noxious weeds, trail construction, salmon carcass seeding, fish passage for steelhead and salmon in Jones Creek, in-stream fish habitat in Picket Creek. For focus area 2, the SRA on an annual basis, provides both watershed health information and hands-on educational activities for the public at a number of events throughout the year. A partial listing of these events includes the Master Gardener Spring Fair and Josephine County Fair, as well as A Tour-In-Time, Frog-O-Faire, and Walk-Along-the-Rogue. Literature information is handed out covering a wide variety of topics, from stream and noxious weed management, to the dangers of wildfire. Hands-on activities focus on learning the water cycle, stream bank erosion, and ground/surface water quality and quantity. For focus area 3, the SRA supports a number of other organizations in various roles including project support, organizational development support, networking, sharing of equipment and grant writing.The SRA is managed by a 12-member Board of Directors, including a four person Executive Committee composed of Chair, Vice-Chair, Treasurer and Secretary. Members come from throughout the watershed boundaries and represent a diverse group of constituents; included among this is tourism, conservation, forestry, fishing, small business, urban and rural residents. The SRA was incorporated in Spring 1999, and received official 501c3 status in May 2004.The SRA is predominantly an all-volunteer organization, with a full-time Coordinator. On average, more than 1000 volunteer hours are contributed towards the organization's mission by upwards of 10 or more partnering agencies. Some partners include the Bureau of Land Management, Middle Rogue Steelheaders, Patagonia,NOAA Fisheries, and the Southern Oregon Flyfishers. The SRA is not a single issue, political or regulatory type organization. Members are composed of teachers, students, small business owners, agency personnel and more.”
