Support for juvenile justice programs and initiatives in the 17 counties of central and eastern Oregon
| Description | Grants | Expenses |
|---|---|---|
| The first item of the JCRI program expenses was in the amount of $10,000.00 and resulted in the accomplishment of being able to sponsor, along with many other community contributors, the return of Tall Cop, Jermain Galloway, to present High in Plain Sight Regional Training Series: Current Alcohol, Drug, and Concealment Trends and Identifiers. This was a JCRI program expenses last year as well, FY 21-22, which supported the same presentation by Mr. Galloway throughout six Eastern Oregon locations. Due to the positive response received regarding the presentation and an expressed desire to have the presentation offered again, although this time it would be offered in eight locations throughout Central and Eastern Oregon, JCRI supported the regional training in the amount of $10,000.00. There were numerous other community sponsors that also contributed to the cost of providing the presentation in the region and ultimately provided the educational opportunity to be open to any person that work with youth (low to high risk) from juvenile justice professions, law enforcement, educators, parents, teen advocates, DHS/CW workers, court staff and treatment providers at no cost. In addition, the enhancement of the professional development of attendees impacts the effectiveness and success when working with at-risk youth to create safer communities. JCRIs support of this training presentation provided the opportunity for attendees to engage in and expand learning, support best practices, and network with other juvenile justice professionals. The second item of the JCRI program expenses was in the amount of $15,000.00. This program expense supported and assisted with the cross-training needs, i.e., employment expenses, lodging, meals, and travel, for the new CEOJJC Business Manager position to be trained one-on-one with the current Business Manager for a six-month period of time. The Business Manager position is the only employee position at CEOJJC. Due to being a one person job, there are a multitude of tasks, activities, systems, processes, and overall operation over a broad spectrum of requirements which necessitates the ability to support the learning and providing a stable training program for a new employee as it is crucial in ensuring the effectiveness of a smooth transition and ultimately ensuring CEOJJC continues to operate seamlessly by providing adequate training and the time necessary for the new hire to obtain the knowledge, skills etc., the position requires. | $20,611 | $26,022 |
