Additional Explanations

Capital Campaign

In 2022, the food bank's board of directors began a capital campaign to find a permanent food bank location to ensure the future of ella curran food bank. For 46 years the food bank has rented small storefronts that does not allow adequate space for indoor shopping, storage, and heating/cooling. To date, the capital campaign has raised in kind and cash donations of $3,556,000; 81% of the funds needed to complete the new building. All capital campaign funds are in bank accounts specifically designated for the capital campaign. All operational funds are also in separate accounts. Importantly, the food bank has continued to use monthly, recurring, donations for only operational expenses in order to purchase needed food for the growing number of people in need. Outlined are the four phases of the new building project: phase 1: project planning, design, property partitioned/deed and building permit obtained. Phase 1 is 100% funded and completed. $170,000. Phase 2: infrastructure and site preparation: rock site, in-ground plumbing, electrical, sewer, and asphalt. Site preparation began in july 2025, completion date, october 1, 2025: phase 2 activities are 100% funded: $1,400,000. Phase 3: structure and roofing: $1,417,700 is raised of $2,300,000 needed. Phase 4: interior finish work, built-in equipment, portable equipment, and soft costs. Equipment and soft costs are 90% funded. This includes refrigeration, furnishings and office equipment, generator, kitchen equipment, signage, shopping and display equipment. Also gardening equipment for a community garden.

FOR 46 YEARS THE FOOD BANK HAS RENTED SMALL STOREFRONTS THAT DOES NOT ALLOW ADEQUATE SPACE FOR INDOOR SHOPPING, STORAGE, AND HEATING/COOLING. TO DATE, THE CAPITAL CAMPAIGN HAS RAISED IN KIND AND CASH DONATIONS OF $3,556,000; 81% OF THE FUNDS NEEDED TO COMPLETE THE NEW BUILDING. ALL CAPITAL CAMPAIGN FUNDS ARE IN BANK ACCOUNTS SPECIFICALLY DESIGNATED FOR THE CAPITAL CAMPAIGN. ALL OPERATIONAL FUNDS ARE ALSO IN SEPARATE ACCOUNTS. IMPORTANTLY, THE FOOD BANK HAS CONTINUED TO USE MONTHLY, RECURRING, DONATIONS FOR ONLY OPERATIONAL EXPENSES IN ORDER TO PURCHASE NEEDED FOOD FOR THE GROWING NUMBER OF PEOPLE IN NEED. OUTLINED ARE THE FOUR PHASES OF THE NEW BUILDING PROJECT: PHASE 1: PROJECT PLANNING, DESIGN, PROPERTY PARTITIONED/DEED AND BUILDING PERMIT OBTAINED. PHASE 1 IS 100% FUNDED AND COMPLETED. $170,000. PHASE 2: INFRASTRUCTURE AND SITE PREPARATION: ROCK SITE, IN-GROUND PLUMBING, ELECTRICAL, SEWER, AND ASPHALT. SITE PREPARATION BEGAN IN JULY 2025, COMPLETION DATE, OCTOBER 1, 2025: PHASE 2 ACTIVITIES ARE 100% FUNDED: $1,400,000. PHASE 3: STRUCTURE AND ROOFING: $1,417,700 IS RAISED OF $2,300,000 NEEDED. PHASE 4: INTERIOR FINISH WORK, BUILT-IN EQUIPMENT, PORTABLE EQUIPMENT, AND SOFT COSTS. EQUIPMENT AND SOFT COSTS ARE 90% FUNDED. THIS INCLUDES REFRIGERATION, FURNISHINGS AND OFFICE EQUIPMENT, GENERATOR, KITCHEN EQUIPMENT, SIGNAGE, SHOPPING AND DISPLAY EQUIPMENT. ALSO GARDENING EQUIPMENT FOR A COMMUNITY GARDEN.
