“OTAO 2015 Bylaw AmendmentsThe 2015 bylaw amendments were approved by board to improve organizational efficiency and transparency and to provide ample opportunity for members to be involved in the leadership of our association.The substantive bylaw changes are:The board structure and terms were amended. The board consists of: The President, President Elect or Immediate Past President, Treasurer, Secretary, one (1) Associate Director, seven (7) Regional Directors and the Chairperson for the Education, Legislative, Marketing, Membership committees and a Faculty representative from each of the Oregon institutions approved or accredited to offer educational programs leading to the qualifications of either an occupational therapist or an occupational therapist assistant. Officers shall serve one (1) year terms. The President-Elect shall serve for one year preceding their taking office as President. The immediate past President shall serve a one year term immediately following their term as President. Regional Directors, Chapter and the Associate Directors shall serve a two (2) year term and are eligible to serve an additional two (2) year term in the same position. At least two (2) and no more than four (4) Regional Directors must be elected each year. Any unfilled Regional Director positions shall remain vacant. Standing committees were adopted. Standing committees will include nominating, membership, education, legislative, history, awards, marketing and faculty representatives. Special committees, subcommittees, and/or task forces may be formed on an as needed basis with board of director approval.The association approved the formation of Chapters. Chapters of the Association are formed subject to the approval of the Board of Directors.Members were given the opportunity to participate in the bylaw amendment process. Bylaws may be amended at any Board of Directors meeting provided that written notice of the substance of any proposed amendments first shall have been sent to the Board of Directors and each member at least forty-five (45) days in advance of the Board Meeting. Members will have thirty (30) days for response to the Board.”
