THE SUNSHINE DIVISION TRACKS DATA OF THE RECIPIENTS OF OUR SERVICES AND AS SUCH WE KNOW THAT THE TOTAL NUMBER OF PEOPLE LIVING IN THESE HOUSEHOLDS WAS 33,121. THESE NUMBERS PROVIDE US DATA TO SHOW THAT THE AVERAGE NUMBER OF PERSONS SERVED IN A SINGLE HOUSEHOLD THAT RECEIVES FOOD AND/OR CLOTHING ASSISTANCE DIRECTLY VIA THE SUNSHINE DIVISION IS APPROXIMATELY 2.7 INDIVIDUALS.THE SUNSHINE DIVISION ALSO PROVIDED 3,500 HOLIDAY FOOD BOXES, 1000 VETERAN FOOD BOXES, 450 THANKSGIVING FOOD BOXES, AND 1,000 SUMMER FOOD BOXES FOR A TOTAL OF 5,950 FOOD BOXES THAT WERE DISTRIBUTED FOR THESE PARTICULAR PROGRAMS SERVING APPROXIMATELY AN ADDITIONAL 17,000 INDIVIDUALS. THE SUNSHINE DIVISION PARTNERED WITH THE PORTLAND POLICE BUREAU AND NEIGHBORHOOD LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES TO PROVIDE EMERGENCY FOOD BOXES THAT WERE DISTRIBUTED FROM THE LOCAL POLICE PRECINCTS TO MEMBERS OF THE COMMUNITY WHO WERE IN NEED. MORE THAN 22,000 POUNDS OF FOOD WAS DISTRIBUTED BY POLICE OFFICERS DIRECTLY TO FAMILIES AND INDIVIDUALS IN CRISIS, SERVING APPROXIMATELY 1,600 INDIVIDUALS. THE AVERAGE WEIGHT OF A FOOD BOX DISTRIBUTED BY THE SUNSHINE DIVISION AND MANY LOCAL FOOD RELIEF ORGANIZATIONS IS 40LBS. FROM JULY 1ST, 2015 - JUNE 30, 2016, APPROXIMATELY 1,058,000 POUNDS OF BULK FOOD WAS DISTRIBUTED BY THE SUNSHINE DIVISION TO MORE THAN THIRTY LOCAL FOOD RELIEF AGENCIES IN MULTNOMAH, CLARK, WASHINGTON, AND CLACKAMAS COUNTIES. THIS FOOD EQUATED TO APPROXIMATELY 26,450 FOOD BOXES SERVING MORE THAN 71,500 INDIVIDUALS. THROUGH THE COMBINED FOOD DISTRIBUTION PROGRAMS (SEE ABOVE) ADMINISTERED INTERNALLY AND WITH LOCAL PARTNERS, AND VIA THE SUNSHINE DIVISION'S FOOD PANTRY, THE ORGANIZATION SERVED MORE THAN 123,221 INDIVIDUALS WITH EMERGENCY FOOD LAST YEAR.MORE THAN 435 CHILDREN PARTICIPATED IN OUR IZZY'S KID'S SCHOOL CLOTHES SHOPPING PROGRAM THAT PAIRS AN OFFICER WITH A LOW-INCOME CHILD FOR A UNIQUE SCHOOL CLOTHES SHOPPING EXPERIENCE. THE SUNSHINE DIVISION ALSO DIRECTLY ASSISTS CLIENTS AND LOCAL NON-PROFIT AGENCIES WITH ACCESS TO GENTLY USED CLOTHING. DURING THIS PERIOD THE ORGANIZATION DISTRIBUTED OVER 22,000 POUNDS OF CLOTHING TO LOCAL AGENCIES AND OVER 48,000 POUNDS DIRECTLY TO FAMILIES AND INDIVIDUALS AT THE SUNSHINE DIVISION FACILITY TO HELP CLOTHE THOSE IN NEED.
