THE SUNSHINE DIVISION TRACKS DATA OF THE RECIPIENTS OF OUR SERVICES AND AS SUCH WE KNOW THAT THE TOTAL NUMBER OF PEOPLE LIVING IN THESE HOUSEHOLDS WAS 40,549. THESE NUMBERS PROVIDE US DATA TO SHOW THAT THE AVERAGE NUMBER OF PERSONS SERVED IN A SINGLE HOUSEHOLD THAT RECEIVES FOOD AND/OR CLOTHING ASSISTANCE VIA THE SUNSHINE DIVISION IS 2.96 PEOPLE.THE SUNSHINE DIVISION ALSO PROVIDED 3,500 HOLIDAY FOOD BOXES, 400 THANKSGIVING FOOD BOXES, AND 1,000 SUMMER FOOD BOXES FOR A TOTAL OF 4,900 FOOD BOXES THAT WERE DISTRIBUTED FOR THESE PARTICULAR PROGRAMS SERVING AND ADDITIONAL 14,504 PEOPLE.THE SUNSHINE DIVISION PARTNERED WITH THE PORTLAND POLICE BUREAU AND NEIGHBORHOOD LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES TO PROVIDE EMERGENCY FOOD BOXES THAT WERE DISTRIBUTED FROM THE LOCAL POLICE PRECINCTS TO MEMBERS OF THE COMMUNITY WHO WERE IN NEED. MORE THAN 26,22 POUNDS OF FOOD WAS DISTRIBUTED BY POLICE OFFICERS DIRECTLY TO FAMILIES AND INDIVIDUALS IN CRISIS, SERVING 1,938 PEOPLE. THE AVERAGE WEIGHT OF A FOOD BOX DISTRIBUTED BY THE SUNSHINE DIVISION AND MANY LOCAL FOOD RELIEF ORGANIZATIONS IS 40LBS. FROM JULY 1ST, 2013 JUNE 30, 2014, 980,300 POUNDS OF BULK FOOD WAS DISTRIBUTED BY THE SUNSHINE DIVISION TO MORE THAN TWENTY-FIVE LOCAL FOOD RELIEF AGENCIES IN MULTNOMAH, CLARK, WASHINGTON, AND CLACKAMAS COUNTIES. THIS FOOD EQUATED TO APPROXIMATELY 24,507 FOOD BOXES SERVING MORE THAN 72,000 INDIVIDUALS. THROUGH THE COMBINED FOOD DISTRIBUTION PROGRAMS (SEE ABOVE) ADMINISTERED INTERNALLY AND WITH LOCAL PARTNERS SUNSHINE DIVISION SERVED MORE THAN 129,500 INDIVIDUALS WITH EMERGENCY FOOD LAST YEAR.MORE THAN 400 CHILDREN PARTICIPATED IN OUR IZZYS KIDS SCHOOL CLOTHES SHOPPING PROGRAM THAT PAIRS AN OFFICER WITH A LOW-INCOME CHILD FOR A UNIQUE SCHOOL CLOTHES SHOPPING EXPERIENCE. THE SUNSHINE DIVISION ALSO DIRECTLY ASSISTS CLIENTS AND LOCAL NON-PROFIT AGENCIES WITH ACCESS TO GENTLY USED CLOTHING.
