Activity 2

Our summer programs include camp namanu resident camp, a day camp, and xploregon teen leadership program. All of these programs keep youth engaged, exploring, and learning during the out-of-school months. These programs served over 1,739 youth grades k-12 in 2012-13. Summer programming is designed to battle the "summer learning slide" (the loss of learning and skills during idle summer months) while immersing youth in unique hands-on learning that turns the world into their classroom and builds positive youth assets like confidence, motivation, social skills, and civic engagement.

Activity 3

Camp fire's classic club is a year-round program that continues the historic curriculum that made camp fire a household name with an emphasis on service to the community, creativity and fun, and rewarding outdoor experiences. Classic club served 212 youth in 2012-13. Youth ages 3- 18 meet regularly in their neighborhoods or at school sites. Teams of adult volunteers utilize curricula that meet educational best practice standards while being flexible enough to be tailored to the individual group's needs and interests. As youth mature they progressively take on more leadership of their club's meetings and activities while the adults act as mentors and advisors.
