Blacks Black Leaders Activating Cultural Knowledge to Succeed

“| Other Expenses:, Amount:| BLACKS entered into a partnership with 4J School District located in Eugene Oregon in Lane County. BLACKS serves any of their students who identify as African American. Speci fically during this period BLACKS planned for created curriculum for and implemented an after-school and summer programs to get 8th graders who were not at grade level as close to grade level as possible. BLACKS also focused on social emotional learning SEL curriculum it developed to help students be healthy emotionally and socially. BLACKS also taught Black History with a resiliency lens which included a You Can 2 event where successful local Blacks did interactive lessons with students showing them if they could be successful so could the students. This was our pilot year. We went around to 4 high schools and 8 middle schools and talked to Black students and helped to support Black students in their Black Student Unions. We talked to or supported over 80 students in this capacity., $62774|”

BLACKS hosted its first event called You Can 2. BLACKS supported the largest Black Student Union in the state of Oregon in a debriefing of an attack on an autistic Black student who was attacked while students hurled racists remarks at him.”
