“"care packages for the troops" is a small organization that packs and ships care packages to the men & women in uniform across all four branches of the service. The funding for those care packages is generated by donations that are made by fellow delta airlines employees. We send an informational email with pictures through delta's intracompany email system. That email will include appreciation acknowledgement to the previous donors and information about where we will be sending the next load of boxes. Also, a picture from one of the recipients who has received care packages in the past. The list of names and addresses of the military individuals who receive care packages is generated from fellow delta employees who have a son, daughter, nephew kin folks or a friends that have been deployed somewhere in the world. The donations are used to purchase all kinds of treats, and toiletry items. Wet wipes, hand lotion, cookies, candy, nuts, trail mix, granola bars, fruit cups, hot sauce and the list goes on. Most all the contents of the boxes are purchased at walmart and sam's club. Sometimes amazon, or kroger. The boxes are packed by volunteers using large flat rate boxes and shipped through the us postal service. We personalize the shipment with a delta flag adorned with signatures and well wishes and ask the recipient to try and get a group picture with the flag to help us generate more donations.”
