Mission and Program Overview

Mission

To promote local food access to all community members, regardless of income, to support local farmers with a direct to consumer sales outlet, and to support consumer to producer relationship and education.

Program Services

DescriptionGrantsExpenses
Farmers Market - Our organization provides a low-cost space for local farmers, particularly beginning and young farmers, and local food producers with a place to sell directly to consumers at a seasonal weekly market. The market is community focused and aimed at fostering connection between farmer/food producers and consumers. To foster these relationships, in addition to the direct to consumer aspect, we host small community events, community meals, educational courses, and children's activities. The market also allows our farmers to participate in both state and federal programs, such as SNAP, SNAP Match, and LFPA, which they would otherwise have difficulty participating in. It is difficult to measure the exact number of persons benefitted different community members and vendors come each week. Population of the surrounding communities that have access to this market is around 20,000.$50,721$50,344
Local Foods Purchasing Assistance Program (LFPA) - This federally funded program allows the market to purchase fresh, unprocessed produce, meat, seafood, and eggs at full market value from vendors and donate that food directly to local anti-hunger agencies. This program greatly reduces food waste, feeds our community, and provides security to our farmers. The number of persons benefitting from this program is around 3,000, according to anti-hunger agency data and our vendor data.$15,052$17,407
SNAP Match - Using state funds, as a market, we are able to match SNAP recipient dollars by up to $40 for each recipient at each market. This program allows us to positively impact local food access for all and also has an extremely positive economic impact on our participating local farmers and food producers. Between SNAP customers served and farmers/food producers participating via our market, we estimate this program impacted around 200 individuals.$5,671$5,513
