“Our missionpounce de leon is dedicated to rescuing homeless and abandoned cats, including cats living in overcrowded shelters.who we arepounce is a no-kill, volunteer-based nonprofit animal rescue organization, operating in metro atlanta and northwest georgia. Pounce has gained inspiration from many sources, including malissa birchall, the founder of the former kitty up cat rescue, who tragically passed away in february 2023.our strength comes from the foundation of pure love and passion we have for the welfare of all cats. Pounce prides itself on being an agile and responsive organization that focuses all of its energy on saving as many cats as possible by fostering collaborative working relationships and open communication with our volunteers, supporters, partner rescue organizations, community members, local governmental bodies, and all other customers we come into contact with.what we dopounce works with a network of volunteers, foster caregivers, local veterinarians, and other shelters to rescue homeless and displaced pets and provide them with protection, nourishment, and life-saving medical care (medications/ treatments/ vaccinations) until they can be placed into their permanent homes. Pounce will never euthanize for space or time. All cats stay in the care of our organization through our fosters as long as required to get them adopted or into a more suitable foster situation. Pounce is currently entirely foster-based. We plan to one day have a shelter, but at this time we provide foster homes to cats through volunteers in the community that open their hearts and their homes to cats in need!pounce also serves as a resource to the community by providing education on pet ownership/care as well as resources and encouragement for spay/neuter activities to support the prevention of pet overpopulation.
