Mission

Our mission is to break the cycle of violence and build a thriving community of rooted leaders in Wake County through prevention, intervention, healing and advocacy. As Raleigh and the surrounding municipalities emerge from the Covid-19 pandemic, crime in general, and particularly violent crime, has risen according to most recent reports by various agencies. This affects not only the direct victims of violence, but also the communities who are caught in its wake.Our goal is to continue to make our community a safe and welcoming environment for anyone who wishes to live here. Boots, community partners, and the CVI ecosystem will use a holistic approach to improve the quality of life for all residents and aim to end the current violence.

Raleigh Boots on the Ground supported over 150 survivors and families impacted by gun violence through direct services including emergency relocation, rental assistance, mental health support, and hospital bedside advocacy.$0$3,479
Raleigh Boots on the Ground expanded our partnership with WakeMed's HVIP (Hospital Violence Intervention) program by supplying 300 hygiene kits that consist of soap, deodorant, lotion, toothpaste, a toothbrush and chapstick. Each kit has a wishing you well card from mother's impacted my gun violence.$0$750
Raleigh Boots on the Ground was selected to represent North Carolina at Everytown's 2024 Gun Sense University, connecting with national leaders, receiving advanced training, and strengthening our statewide advocacy network. Raleigh Boots On The Ground has been selected to receive a one-time $15,000 Everytown Survivor Network Grant. Everytown for Gun Safety is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to raising awareness and providing education to prevent gun violence. Everytown's mission is to save lives and reduce the widespread physical, psychological, and economic impacts of gun violence.$0$0
Hospital & Community Violence Intervention Program - The mission is to rethink violence as a health issue that can be prevented by providing trauma-informed care in partnership. The key components of the program are, Intervention: Begin with an immediate intervention in the emergency department or at the hospital bedside. Care: In the months following the injury, there will be intensive, long-term community-based case management services. Follow Up Services: Crisis intervention, linkages to community-based services, mentoring, home visits, follow-up assistance, and long- term case management are provided by culturally-competent frontline workers who are from the same or similar communities as the clients they serve. Addressing the Social Determinants of Health: Addressing inequality and building partnerships with communities and survivors of violence can help deal with the issue of the revolving door of violence. The goals of the program are, work with victims from 6 months to a year, meet mental health needs, reduce drug and alcohol addiction and reduce criminal activity. The services the program will provide are, trauma health services, mental health services, basic concrete needs, legal support and immigration services, victims assistance help, employment and workforce services, housing and relocation services, education, childcare, mediation and reconciliation.$0$0
