A $25,000 grant was awarded to The Nature Conservancy TNC to aid in removing the No Name Dam on the Pequest River in Belvidere NJ. This initiative aims to enhance aquatic connectivity and water quality benefiting fish species like American shad. The dams elimination is part of TNCs effort to restore the Pequest River to its natural state. Many dams on the Pequest are now obsolete posing risks to water quality blocking access to vital fish spawning areas and endangering paddlers. Maintaining and fixing old dams is expensive making removal a more cost-effective and environmentally friendly choice. This project combined with the recent Cedar Grove Dam removal will further enhance 7.8 miles of the mainstem Pequest River and 50 miles of its tributaries.$25,000$25,000
A $25,000 grant was awarded to Long Beach Township NJ for the construction of a 2000 ft2 hybrid breakwater in the Clam Cove Reserve situated in the Holgate section of Long Beach NJ. The project aims to safeguard a vulnerable section of the Clam Cove shoreline by utilizing a mix of materials and nature-based techniques such as oyster clam shell shell bags and oyster castles to mitigate wave wake and wind energy. Oyster castles are proven effective in shoreline protection and enhancing habitat for marine life. Around 25 volunteers will collaborate with project partners to relocate and install the materials at the site. The breakwater will shield the marsh habitat aid in ecosystem restoration bolster community resilience and serve as an outdoor learning space for local environmental educators and scientists.$25,000$25,000

The project builds on prior successful efforts in Delaware Bay employing innovative strategies to bolster beach restoration. It also explores eco-friendly shell containment options involving approximately 100 volunteers to foster community engagement.$25,000$25,000
A $25,000 grant was awarded to The Nature Conservancy TNC to assist in Phase 3 of the Paulina Dam removal project in Blairstown NJ on the Paulins Kill. The dam is the last one on the river a significant tributary to the Delaware River. Removing Paulina Dam along with prior removals of Columbia Remnant Dam 2018 Columbia Dam 2019 and County Line Dam 2021 enhances 45 miles of waterways for migratory and resident fish. Phase 3 involves bank grading stabilization native plant seeding and instream habitat construction. The project benefits various species including American shad American Eel sea lamprey Eastern Brook Trout and three NJ state-threatened mussel species.$25,000$25,000
A grant of $8728 was awarded to the New Jersey Audubon 9 Hardscrabble Rd. Bernardsville NJ 07924d; EIN 22-1539642 to partially fund a Swamp Pink Fencing Protection Project. The objective of this project is to install deer exclusion fencing at two publicly -owned sites to protect the federally threatened plant Swamp Pink Helonias bullata within 17 acres of wetland habitat. The wetlands are being impacted by an overpopulation of deer and associated herbivory. Fencing will stop or greatly reduce herbivory on Swamp Pink resulting in increased flower production and overall plant vigor in following years. The project e prevented local extinction of Swamp Pink on these properties. In Camden County CCC students received first-hand research and monitoring experience as well as the opportunity to work alongside and learn from the Service and NJA. A public art mural was also created on the CCCC campus to publicize and educate students and visitors about Swamp Pink.$8,728$8,728
