“Vision restoration outreach eye care camp kano, nigeria (may 813, 2024) al basar usa conducted a transformative vision restoration outreach in kano, nigeria, bringing hope and healing to thousands. During this impactful eye care camp, our team performed 400 life-changing cataract surgeries, distributed 1,000 eyeglasses, and provided essential screenings and medications to 3,900 patients. This initiative not only restored sight but also renewed dignity and independence for individuals and families in need. Together, we are lighting the way to a brighter future for underserved communities. School eye health program kano, nigeria (april -may 2024): the project launched in april 2024 with stakeholder collaboration. In phase 1, 28 teachers were trained to conduct visual acuity tests in 14 schools, screening 13,798 students. Of these, 1,076 students failed the initial test and were referred for phase 2. In phase 2, a team of optometrists, eye health technicians, and social mobilizers examined the referred students. Results: 462 students prescribed glasses. 301 students were treated with medication for eye disorders. 127 students referred to tertiary centers for advanced care (e.g., glaucoma, cataract). 186 students found normal and discharged. This initiative is transforming eye health for students, ensuring early detection and intervention.”
“Vision restoration outreach eye care camp amman, jordan, (august 2429, 2024): we are thrilled to announce the success of the recent eye care medical camp in amman, jordan, held from august 24th to 29th, 2024. During this camp, we provided successful treatment to over 2,010 individuals from diverse backgrounds, but mostly residents of palestinian refugee camps. A total of 494 eye surgeries were performed, with 485 intraocular lenses (iols) implanted and 1161 glasses distributed.regards,”

SCHOOL EYE HEALTH PROGRAM KANO, NIGERIA (APRIL -MAY 2024): THE PROJECT LAUNCHED IN APRIL 2024 WITH STAKEHOLDER COLLABORATION. IN PHASE 1, 28 TEACHERS WERE TRAINED TO CONDUCT VISUAL ACUITY TESTS IN 14 SCHOOLS, SCREENING 13,798 STUDENTS. OF THESE, 1,076 STUDENTS FAILED THE INITIAL TEST AND WERE REFERRED FOR PHASE 2. IN PHASE 2, A TEAM OF OPTOMETRISTS, EYE HEALTH TECHNICIANS, AND SOCIAL MOBILIZERS EXAMINED THE REFERRED STUDENTS. RESULTS: 462 STUDENTS PRESCRIBED GLASSES. 301 STUDENTS WERE TREATED WITH MEDICATION FOR EYE DISORDERS. 127 STUDENTS REFERRED TO TERTIARY CENTERS FOR ADVANCED CARE (E.G., GLAUCOMA, CATARACT). 186 STUDENTS FOUND NORMAL AND DISCHARGED.
