“In 2023, BDAC continued its arts program, acquiring significant works from underrepresented artists including Kezia Harrells Butterflies are Bows #4, Keion Statons Digital Graffiti BDAC Vol. 1, and Qualeasha Woods AFK, 2023. We expanded our collection of cultural IP through these curated acquisitions, supported operational infrastructure for artist development, and laid groundwork for future exhibitions and educational initiatives. The organizations activities focused on three primary areas: Art Acquisition and Preservation: BDAC invested $53,131 in acquiring significant works from Black artists, expanding our collection to showcase and preserve important cultural expressions. This includes both traditional media and digital art forms, representing the diverse ways Black artists are working across mediums. Operational Infrastructure: We invested $12,000 in operational support to build sustainable systems for artist development and community engagement. This operational foundation is critical for supporting our long-term mission of elevating Black artists in the digital and physical art worlds. Technology Investment: Through strategic investments in crypto assets ($25,000) and software systems ($1,145), BDAC is positioning itself at the intersection of art and technology, creating new opportunities for Black artists to engage with emerging technologies and markets. These activities directly support our exempt purpose by creating tangible opportunities for artists, preserving important cultural works, and building infrastructure to support the long-term visibility and success of creators in the art world.”
