Mission

To nuture and provide resources to the impoverished and orphaned youth.

Second chance childrens ministry's (sccm) mission is to nuture and provide resources to the impoverished and orphaned youth. Sccm was established due to the common desire of the founding members to pool resources to help with intervention mechanisms towards the needs of vulnerable children in uganda. Sccm is dedicated to reaching, teaching and equiping impoverished orphans and vulnerable children by providing access to education, housing, and food security.

“Educational assistance to orphaned children and teen mothers in uganda: second chance childrens ministry (sccm) partners with schools, churches, and individuals in uganda in order to provide access to education and vocational training to orphaned children who would not otherwise have access to these services. Sccm sponsored 22 children during the 2024 year, providing them with educational opportunities that they would not otherwise be afforded. Sccm also works with a church in uganda to facilitate sunday school teachings for local children. The ministry provides a space for children to learn about god through instruction and lessons tailored to their age groups, which would not otherwise be available to them. 23 children regularly attended the sunday school sessions during the 2024 year. Beginning in 2024, sccm also opened the handiwork project. This program offers skills training in the making of traditional mats, baskets, and sewing to teen mothers in uganda. These skills allow them to make products they can sell, creating the opportunity for these individuals to bring in income needed to support themselves and their families. 15 teen mothers received training through this program during 2024.”

This included general checks and referrals, dental care, immunizations, eye care and health education. Health care services such as these are not generally accessible to individuals in uganda, especially those living in rural villages, such those visited on this trip.”

SCCM SPONSORED 22 CHILDREN DURING THE 2024 YEAR, PROVIDING THEM WITH EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES THAT THEY WOULD NOT OTHERWISE BE AFFORDED. SCCM ALSO WORKS WITH A CHURCH IN UGANDA TO FACILITATE SUNDAY SCHOOL TEACHINGS FOR LOCAL CHILDREN. THE MINISTRY PROVIDES A SPACE FOR CHILDREN TO LEARN ABOUT GOD THROUGH INSTRUCTION AND LESSONS TAILORED TO THEIR AGE GROUPS, WHICH WOULD NOT OTHERWISE BE AVAILABLE TO THEM. 23 CHILDREN REGULARLY ATTENDED THE SUNDAY SCHOOL SESSIONS DURING THE 2024 YEAR. BEGINNING IN 2024, SCCM ALSO OPENED THE HANDIWORK PROJECT. THIS PROGRAM OFFERS SKILLS TRAINING IN THE MAKING OF TRADITIONAL MATS, BASKETS, AND SEWING TO TEEN MOTHERS IN UGANDA. THESE SKILLS ALLOW THEM TO MAKE PRODUCTS THEY CAN SELL, CREATING THE OPPORTUNITY FOR THESE INDIVIDUALS TO BRING IN INCOME NEEDED TO SUPPORT THEMSELVES AND THEIR FAMILIES. 15 TEEN MOTHERS RECEIVED TRAINING THROUGH THIS PROGRAM DURING 2024.
