“Mff action engages in lobbying, endorses candiates, and organizes the community as we seek to end pre-trial detention and stop the harms of the immigration system in minnesota. Mff action envisions a world where freedom is the standard for all people and where the minnesota freedom fund, which pays cash bail and immigration bonds for people who cannot otherwise afford to, is no longer needed to mitigate the harms of unjust and oppressive systems.”

“The 2024 program service accomplishments include: - mff hosted mff's first ever lobby day at the capitol. We set up meetings between our guests and their lawmakers for face-to-face meetings. For many guests, this was one of their first time talking face-to-face with their lawmaker. We provided training including tips for talking with your lawmaker and what to expect during this meeting and joined in on meetings for support. We encouraged guests to talk about how the bills directly impact them and why they care about this issue and then mff staff were involved in the meetings to answer more direct questions about the bills and mff. - mff secured chief authors for the pretrial data transparency bill. - mff created a legislative agenda which included focusing on 4 bills, focusing on bills that impact getting pretrial data (pretrial data transparency), keeping immigrants safer in mn (north star act), reducing harm in jails (amended version of the hardel sherrell act), and getting people post-conviction support (post-conviction relief). - mff was present in and supported multiple coalitions in order to support and advance bills on our legislative agenda. - mff continued to build and promote a court watch program in order to inspire people to become passionate about the local pretrial system and keep community attention on the pretrial system. - hosted multiple community events to educate the community about our issues and share our legislative agenda as action people can take. - designed and implemented a testifier training and recruited possible testifiers with a focus on testifiers with lived experience.”
