The organization serves a charitable class, to provide financial assistance to calista corporation ("calista") shareholders and descendants to enable recipients to participate in continuing educational activities including formal programs of study and coursesdirected at improving the status of alaska natives through education; to provide burial assistance; to provide and promote cultural, historical and educational programs; to discover, record, preserve, and advance knowledge and public awareness of the native cultures ofthe calista region, namely the history, languages, customs, arts, and achievements of the people of the calista region; to study the needs and aspirations of calista's shareholders and descendants and work to fulfill the mission to celebrate and promote "yuuyaraq," thetraditional/cultural way of being in the calista region which inspires and encourages our people to achieve their dreams through education.
