Activity 2

Mining & Clean Water - the Mining and clean Water Program at SEACC promotes environmentally responsible, sustainable mining practices in southeast Alaska. Weprotect the fish, wildlife and recreational resources by representing these values during the planning and permitting process of development. We work through the agencies to assure that the best available science is utilized to protect water quality. We engage diverse groups in education and activism around potential projects throughout Southeast Alaska and regionally to include mines in Canada that affect Alaska waters.

Activity 3

Outreach & Membership encompasses outreach efforts to interested & supportive individuals, organizations, and at-large members, through organized events & meetings, newsletters, action alerts, participation in public markets, community programs and meetings, and fairs and similar holiday events. A significant portion of this activity is active promotion of recreational opportunities in Southeast Alaska utilizing volunteer leaders. The membership component more directly focuses on at-large members, donors, and other supporters with emphasis on providing direct on-going support and communications that keep membership engaged and informed on the efforts and issues facing conservation in Southeast Alaska.Communications focuses more directly on public communications in general and helps to inform and shape the public perception on conservation issues through a balanced and timely media program that links public needs and issues with the conservation perspective. The Communications program also supports Outreach and membership through more targeted media efforts that reaches out to members and supporters.The program utilizes social media outlets, a sophisticated website, and news updates through weblogs.
