The process in which awaic reviews its 990 before it is filed is that awaic's finance staff, in coordination with the executive director, works with awaic's independent accountants to complete a draft of the form 990. This is then reviewed by the board of directors.

Form 990, Page 6, Part VI, Line 12C

Awaic is self-regulating. If a potential conflict is disclosed, the item would be discussed at the next board meeting, or earlier, if required.

Form 990, Page 6, Part VI, Line 15A

The awaic board of directors determines compensation of the executive officer. Compensation is based on data obtained from a salary survey completed by the foraker group, an independent non-profit support organization. This survey amalyzes the size of the organization based on the number of employees and annual budget. Additionally, the executive officer's education and experience are used to determine the base salary. The executive committee of the awaic board of directors facilitates an annual review of the performance of the executive director. All board members are a part of this review. Further compensation such as raises or bonuses are determined by the board using awaic policies and procedures as a guide.

Compensation of key employees is determined using a classification chart that is based on information from the foraker group salary study, the employee's education and employment experience. Employees receive an annual review of their performance from their supervisor and further compensation is based on the awaic policies and procedures as a guide.
