“Global girl media (ggm) developes the voice and media literacy of teenage girls and young women, ages 14-22, in under served communities by teaching them to create and share digital jornalism designed to improve scholastic achievement, ignite community ativism and spark social change.”

“Global girl media was active in two locations in 2022. We held media trainings for 20 bipoc women in los angeles during the summer, july through august. We also produced two more trainings focused on refugee young women in athens, greece, training an additional 40 young woung women. We continue to run our mentorship program, placing our graduates in interships and jobs, assisting them with their academic and career goals in media and digital journalism. In greece we also started a feature-length documentary for broadcast about afghan women leaders in exile, an ongoing project that has been selected for broadcast in france and canada. Our funding came mainly from foundations: california arts council, benevity, michael stars foundation rockefeller foundation and for our greece work we received a grant from the international rfugee council (irc).”
