“Our chapter exists for the exclusive purpose of advancing in our geographical region, scientific, engineering, technical and practical knowledge, particularly with respect to the manufacture, treatment, selection and use of engineering materials. This is done through education, research, and the compliation and dissemination of information useful to indvidual members and prospective mebmers of the society and is beneficial to the general public.”

“Grants paid 39,000 in various scholarships to various recipients. Scholarships are granted to individuals upon showing character, academic credentials, need and the intent to pursue or teach a course of study related to material science.”

“To provide attendees with an opportunity to learn about advancements and technologies in materials science via monthly technical meeting; provide educational oppurtunities and achievement recognition through continuing education courses in materials science and nominations for national awards in office; disseminate information related to materials science and engineering through the internet, newsletters and other publications; provide assistance to students interested in materials science and engineering, in the form of contests, career guidance and scholarships.”
