Classification for membership - applicants will be accepted into membership of the association from colleges, universities and institutions of higher learning and all branches of these institutions with separate and distinct physical plants and plant operations located within the boundary of the state of georgia. Representation a.principle representative - the principal representative of a member institution shall be the individual who has the direct responsibility for administration and management of the physical plant, or plant operations of the member institution. B.associate representatives - the member institution may designate as associate representative the full time professional administrator, or supervisory employee below rank of the principal representative of the physical plant. Other associate representatives may be designated subject to the approval of the board of directors. C.board of directors board of regents, board of trustees or similar organizations defined in article section ii-b are defined as special members without vote. D.special member - state government agencies having physical plant administration or plant engineer functions are members without votes. E.sustaining member - is defined as an architect, consulting engineer, supplier, and other firms providing management services, construction maintenance and material services to college and university physical plants f.emeritus members - emeritus status may be granted to any institutional member, regular member, or an associate member of the association with at lease 10 years of service with gappa for service rendered to the association. Persons seeking such status can apply to the board of directors for review or can be nominated by another member of gappa with sufficient criteria to allow the board of directors to review for the designation. (amended and approved at annual meeting may 2004) election to membership - the board of directors of the association shall screen all applicants. After reviewing each application, the board of directors will notify the applicant of acceptance of rejection.

Right to vote -- a member institution is entitled to one vote, which shall be cast, by the principal representative or the designated alternate. Alternates will be designated in writing by the principal representative rights and privileges only the principal representative or the designated alternate are entitled to: i. Vote on motions duly presented at meetings of the association or vote by mail ballot. 2. Be elected to and hold office in the association b.all membership (principal, associate, special, sustaining, and emeritus) are entitled to: 1.receive copies of the association's newsletter. 2.bring guests to annual meetings. 3.submit papers for presentation at meetings of the association. 4.be appointed by the president of board of directors to committees of the association.

FORM 990 - ORGANIZATION'S MISSION

To strengthen professionalism among physical plant administrators by: promoting the common interest in construction, care, and operation of physical plants used by universities and colleges within georgia; fostering professionalism among the persons engaged in this work; providing information services, programs, and activities to its members; and representing the interest of its members of the higher education community and other groups.

Form 990, Page 2, Part III, Line 4A

Each year gappa sponsors programs for enhancing plant operations. Four workshops are scheduled annually for physical plant supervisory personnel. A 1000 incentive -award is presented to a member institution every odd year annual meeting to supplement training or incentive programs at the recipient's college or university. Also, a quarterly newsletter keeps members up-to-date on the latest developments in the association as well as what is happening in the profession. Additionally, scholarships up to 3,000 annually per award are available for professional development initiatives related to the field of plant operations, and up to 750 is available for reimbursement for cefp initial credentialing. An annual meeting provides the opportunity to fellowship with colleagues, to share ideas on plant-related concepts, and perhaps discover solutions to existing problems. It is a time of professional enrichment with educational sessions and for enjoyment at the various social and sport events.

A 1000 INCENTIVE -AWARD IS PRESENTED TO A MEMBER INSTITUTION EVERY ODD YEAR ANNUAL MEETING TO SUPPLEMENT TRAINING OR INCENTIVE PROGRAMS AT THE RECIPIENT'S COLLEGE OR UNIVERSITY. ALSO, A QUARTERLY NEWSLETTER KEEPS MEMBERS UP-TO-DATE ON THE LATEST DEVELOPMENTS IN THE ASSOCIATION AS WELL AS WHAT IS HAPPENING IN THE PROFESSION. ADDITIONALLY, SCHOLARSHIPS UP TO 3,000 ANNUALLY PER AWARD ARE AVAILABLE FOR PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT INITIATIVES RELATED TO THE FIELD OF PLANT OPERATIONS, AND UP TO 750 IS AVAILABLE FOR REIMBURSEMENT FOR CEFP INITIAL CREDENTIALING. AN ANNUAL MEETING PROVIDES THE OPPORTUNITY TO FELLOWSHIP WITH COLLEAGUES, TO SHARE IDEAS ON PLANT-RELATED CONCEPTS, AND PERHAPS DISCOVER SOLUTIONS TO EXISTING PROBLEMS.
