“The Association's Form 990 is provided to the accounting manager who reviews the 990 with the Executive Director. Then the 990 is provided to the board of directors for review and approval before filing with the IRS.”

“Each member of the board or a committee is responsible for disclosing instances where the member's involvement in an association or cwu activity gives rise to an actual or apparent conflict of interest. A conflict of interest includes, without limitation, a situation where a director or committee member, or a related entity, has an interest that may lead such individual to act in a way that is incompatible with, or a breach of such individual's fiduciary duty of loyalty to the association or cwu, or use their role as a director or committee member to achieve personal gain or benefit, or benefit to family, friends, associates or a related entity. In this instance, the director or committee member shall disclose any such relationship, and shall not be present at the board or committee meeting where a discussion or vote on such matter occurs. Provided, however, the director or committee member may provide, at the board's or a committee's request, pertinent information in order to assist the board or committee.”

“Mission. The mission of the association is to support the central washington university community through cultivation, engagement and development of its alumni and friends. Vision statement. To build a passionate wildcat nation. Statement of philosophy. We believe that central washington university should be a cooperative enterprise, a community of students, faculty, staff, and alumni, whom collectively and individually, all are responsible for developing, supporting, and sustaining the objectives of cwu. We believe that our alumni comprise an integral and inseparable part of cwu and that all alumni have a continuing obligation to serve and support their alma mater. We believe that our alumni can serve cwu by joining together in an organized association which can promote and focus support and service and that the concepts for developing the association's organizational policies should be determined by the alumni themselves. We believe that it should be the function of association to work with cwu to develop ways and means of alumni engagement, involvement and communication with their alma mater and to see that alumni are recognized as a respected and integral part of cwu. The work we do is guided by three strategic principles: connect = outreach engage = build participation lead = develop leaders and philanthropic partners the past year the alumni association has made tremendous progress as we have sought to expand outreach and participation. The association has sponsored over 120 programs including on campus, local, state, regional and national engagements. This has led to an increase awareness of the programs and support offered by the association. Cwu day with the mariners was the largest program of the year, this collaborative project with the college of business yielded just over 1,400 participants up from just 375 participants. In addition to hosting and managing successful events we have also invested a great deal to improve our communication efforts including new social media strategies to help aid in telling the stories of our alumni. This work is building a library of biographies and helping to reconnect alums with their alma mater. Check out our alumni page on facebook to learn more: @cwualumni this year we also launched the professional network and mentoring portal that has provided the alumni office an opportunity to partner with colleagues across the university including: student employment, the college of business, the douglas honors college, the college of arts and humanities and the student alumni association. While many of these programs are just launching after a full year of cross division assessment and campus evaluation we are excited to have a firm partnership established with career services and a home with simplicity software suit to house the program. While much of our focus continues to be on connecting our current students with our alumni we are also excited to promote and market opportunities for alumni to give back to the institution in support of scholarships. To this end we have formed a scholarship committee which is helping to distribute support to our students and promote new opportunities to give back including the legacy program that allows alums an opportunity to purchase a brick in our alumni walk in the prestigious barge courtyard and the cwu ride program which provide alumni an opportunity to purchase a custom cwu license plate through the dol to show their wildcat pride.”
