THE ORGANIZATION NORMALLY RECEIVES A SUBSTANTIAL PART OF ITS SUPPORT FROM CONTRIBUTIONS FROM THE GENERAL PUBLIC. FOR THE AGGREGATED PERIOD 2009 THROUGH 2013, IT HAS RECEIVED 30 PERCENT OF ITS SUPPORT FROM GOVERNMENTAL AND PUBLIC SOURCES. B. NATURE OF A PUBLICLY SUPPORTED ORGANIZATION. THE ORGANIZATION IS IN THE NATURE OF A PUBLICLY SUPPORTED ORGANIZATION. IT RECEIVES SUPPORT FROM A REPRESENTATIVE NUMBER OF PERSONS, HAS A REPRESENTATIVE GOVERNING BODY, HAS A FUND-RAISING PROGRAM DESIGNED TO GENERATE PUBLIC SUPPORT, AND CONDUCTS PROGRAMS THAT DIRECTLY BENEFIT THE GENERAL PUBLIC. 1. SUPPORT. THE ORGANIZATION WAS FORMED IN 1997 FOR THE PURPOSE OF RAISING AND ADMINISTERING FUNDS TO PROVIDE OPPORTUNITIES, ENCOURAGEMENT, AND FINANCIAL SUPPORT FOR NOOKSACK VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATES TO FURTHER THEIR EDUCATION BEYOND HIGH SCHOOL. THE ORGANIZATION HAS RECEIVED A BEQUEST, TOTALING $859,213 FROM LONG TERM EVERSON CITIZENS UPON THEIR DEATHS. THE INTENT IS FOR THE PRINCIPAL OF THIS BEQUEST TO REMAIN INTACT IN STABLE INVESTMENTS, AND FOR THE INTEREST TO BE AVAILABLE FOR ORGANIZATION'S PROJECTS AND ACTIVITIES. OTHER CONTRIBUTIONS HAVE BEEN FROM INDIVIDUALS AND CORPORATIONS TOTALING $283,081 FROM 2009 THROUGH 2013. THE ORGANIZATION DOES NOT RECEIVE SUPPORT FROM THE MEMBERS OF ONE FAMILY. THE CORPORATE CONTRIBUTORS ARE NOT INVOLVED IN THE MANAGEMENT OF THE ORGANIZATION AND DO NOT HAVE ANY REPRESENTATIVES AS DIRECTORS OR OFFICERS. RATHER, THE COMPANIES ARE INTERESTED IN SUPPORTING THE ACTIVITIES OF THE ORGANIZATION THROUGH CONTRIBUTIONS. 2. GOVERNING BODY. THE ORGANIZATION'S BOARD OF DIRECTORS CONSISTS OF ELEVEN PERSONS WHO REPRESENT THE INTERESTS OF THE GENERAL PUBLIC. MANY OF THE MEMBERS ARE RETIREES, WITH VARIOUS EMPLOYMENT BACKGROUNDS. 3. FUND-RAISING ACTIVITIES. THE ORGANIZATION CARRIES ON A PUBLIC SOLICITATIONS PROGRAM THROUGH ITS OFFICERS AND DIRECTORS, AND THROUGH ACKNOWLEDGMENTS IN PUBLICATIONS AND REPORTING IN THE PRESS. TO DATE, THE ORGANIZATION HAS RAISED THE MAJORITY OF ITS FUNDS THROUGH INDIVIDUAL AND CORPORATE SPONSORSHIP OF ITS ACTIVITIES. RECEIVING CONTRIBUTIONS FROM THE CORPORATE CONTRIBUTORS ENABLES THE ORGANIZATION TO PROVIDE FUNDS TO LOCAL COMMUNITY COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIPS. THE ORGANIZATION RAISES FUNDS VIA PERSONAL CONTACTS, NETWORKING WITH OTHER NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS, AS WELL AS HOSTING COMMUNITY FUNDRAISERS. 4. PROGRAMS. THE ORGANIZATION'S MAJOR ACTIVITIES CONSIST OF PROVIDING COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIPS TO NOOKSACK VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL YOUTHS. THE ORGANIZATION'S PROGRAMS ARE AVAILABLE TO, AND PARTICIPATED IN, BY THE PUBLIC. SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS ARE AVAILABLE AT THE HIGH SCHOOL.
